Integrative Counselling in Lowestoft and Online
I offer Integrative Counselling for adults, face-to-face in Lowestoft and online. Counselling is shaped around you, your experiences and what you would like from our work together.
What is Integrative Counselling?
My counselling philosophy is integrative. This means I am not limited to one particular type of therapy or a fixed way of working.
Depending on you and what we are exploring together, I may draw from Person-Centred counselling, Gestalt, Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed ways of working, and creative or psychoeducational approaches.
You do not need to know which type of therapy you need before you come to counselling. We can discuss what you are experiencing and decide together how we might work.
What happens in a counselling session?
Counselling does not follow a script. What we talk about and how we work will depend on what is happening for you and what you want from counselling.
Some sessions may involve talking through something that has happened recently. At other times we might notice patterns in relationships, explore thoughts and feelings that are difficult to make sense of, or look at how earlier experiences may be affecting life now.
There may also be times when it is useful to explore things in a different way rather than relying entirely on conversation. Because my counselling philosophy is integrative, we can decide together what feels useful rather than following a predetermined programme.
You don’t need to know where to start
You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis, a particular goal or even a clear explanation of what is wrong.
Sometimes people know exactly what they want to work on. Others simply know they are struggling, feeling overwhelmed, repeating patterns they don’t understand, or that something in their life needs attention.
We can start with what is happening for you now and take it from there.
How our work might develop
What you need from counselling may change over time. Something that initially brings you to counselling may lead us to understand other experiences, relationships or patterns differently.
We can regularly consider how the counselling is feeling, what has been useful and whether there is anything you would like us to approach differently.
Where appropriate, we might also discuss whether a more specific trauma-focused method such as EMDR or the Rewind Technique could form part of our work.
Practical information

Starting counselling
If you’re considering counselling, the first step can simply be a conversation.
I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation so you can tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions and get a sense of whether you would like us to work together.
